Animal Care Technician Part-time
Entry level position; Approximately 30 hours per week with the possibility of full time in the future.

Primary Functions:
To provide compassionate, attentive and humane care of the animals at all times.  
To clean and maintain a healthy, sanitary environment for the animals and the public by assisting with cleaning before opening. To help prepare animals for adoption by helping to socialize, train, and keep them medically healthy.  To greet customers and process outgoing animals for adoption. Ensure that adoption counseling for each animal is done thoroughly as well as making certain all accurate animal records are given to adopters. To provide exceptional customer service over the phone and in person at all times. Assist with cleaning before opening.

General knowledge and understanding of sheltering practices preferred.
Prior shelter, veterinarian, animal husbandry, or kennel experience required.
Able to walk or stand on your feet throughout a normal work day.
Able to lift 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal work day.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good interpersonal, communication, customer service and time management skills.
Ability to work in a stressful environment.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Contribute to effective teamwork and foster public relations beneficial to the shelter and its programs.
Ability and initiative, working with minimal supervision and direction.
Familiarity with animals, knowledge of animal behavior or experience volunteering or working with an animal welfare agency are a plus.
Ability to identify problems or patient conditions (medical or behavioral) that need to be brought to the attention of the immediate supervisor.
