Pet Helpers Celebrates #GivingTuesdayNow!

The Impact of #givingTuesdaynow!

Giving Tuesday is a worldwide initiative to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy, and unite individuals and communities in support of the non-profit organizations who work towards making our world a better place.  In the spirit of giving, Giving Tuesday Now was created in response to the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While many of us are struggling with the “new normal of social distancing, and self-isolating, most of the animals that come to Pet Helpers have been struggling with those feelings of loneliness and stress for some time. We, as humans, may have the good fortune of being home with family or friends. But cats and dogs who are waiting to be adopted–they are alone, and looking for a hero to love them.

When you give to Pet Helpers, you are helping to save not just one life from loneliness, but two–the animals that we find forever homes for, and the ones who take their place. Whether you give $1, $5, $50, or $100, every dollar makes it possible for us to continue saving lives and answering calls for help.

give for animals like beauregard

Beauregard, now "Jones," in his forever home after waiting for three months in Pet Helpers care!

Beauregard looks so incredibly happy in these photos from his forever home, but that wasn’t always the case. Beauregard came to Pet Helpers on January 31, 2020 from a partner shelter where he was having difficulty finding a family. Beauregard had a severe upper respiratory infection when he first arrived, and spent some time in quarantine getting better. Beauregard is FIV-positive, which is a virus that compromises a cat’s immune system and makes recovering from illness take longer. However, FIV cannot be passed to humans or dogs, and can easily be managed with an indoor-only lifestyle and preventative care. Unfortunately, FIV can also be a challenge for adoption.

In late April, a foster family stepped up for Beauregard, and did not let his FIV status deter them from loving him. Beauregard has made it his mission to love them back even more, giving hugs and bonding with his human brother. It wasn’t long before the family made it “official,” and Beauregard, now named “Jones,” has a lifetime of love ahead of him!
