Unchain Charleston

Fences Give Freedom

About Unchain Charleston

Pet Helpers’ Unchain Charleston Program is “breaking the chains and improving the lives of dogs in the Lowcountry. Fences Give Freedom!”

Under the Pet Helpers umbrella of programs, a group of volunteers formed Unchain Charleston. This program is a concerted effort to spread awareness about the plight of chained dogs and to build fences for chained dogs in the Lowcountry. By providing an alternative to chaining, Unchain Charleston keeps dogs out of the shelter system and in their loving homes.

Please consider donating to the Unchain Charleston Program so that we may continue our mission of freeing chained dogs across the Lowcountry. You can also donate building supplies by visiting our Amazon Wishlist here.

If you would like to apply for a fence, please fill out the form by clicking the button below and emailing it to joswald@pethelpers.org.

Building fences for dogs is incredibly rewarding. I love seeing how happy the dogs are after we let them into the fenced area!

Volunteer Coordinator, Pet Helpers

This is an absolutely incredible program and completely changes the life of the dogs that the fences are built for. I just cannot say enough good things about it.
